When I look back on our first year in this home, I'll probably remember one things above all else...PAINTING. I feel like I had a paintbrush permanently attached to my hand because I was so anxious to make the main living space feel like ours. A year into living in this new place, and we have the entire middle floor painted. That feels GOOD! And I've learned a few things along the way.
I will forever and always have these two tools on hand for painting projects:
The first is a Purdy paintbrush. I'm addicted! I'm obsessed! They are so well made and 100% worth the money and the time it takes to clean them after use. They result in a much smoother painted surface than a cheap or dollar store brush (what I used to use). I also learned that with a quality brush, it's much easier to paint a straight smooth line against trim, once you get the hang of it. Which results in less taping beforehand. I love these brushes.
The second is a brush spinner. I didn't even know these existed until a friend told us about his. You stick your just-cleaned paintbrush into the end and spin until it dries out. Now why do I love this so much? There are a couple of reasons. One is because after taking a ride in the spinner, your brush can immediately be used again for another project.
Second, I think being able to dry my brushes out right away keeps them in better condition. I spin my clean wet brush, then wrap it up tight in a folded over piece of paper towel, and let the bristles form back into their original shape. I really think it's because of this method that my brushes have been so well preserved for the last year. The best part is the brush spinner only costs around $8! Score!
I hope these products help you with future projects the way they've helped me!
