Guys, I'm so excited about this post! So far, I've shared room updates we've done in order of how they started in the fall of 2016. Since this blog didn't exist until fall 2017, I've been playing catch up and sharing what's already done. This is the first time I'm able to blog about a space in real time! I'll be spending the month of March working on our master bedroom, so I thought it would be fun to share the plan ahead of time.
Here's why I'm SO excited about this project.... in almost 18 years of marriage, our bedroom has never been "done." Since no one sees it but us, we were content to keep our old post-college dressers and night stands, the newlywed-cheap-as-we-could-find headboard, and hodge podge lighting. When you constantly have other parts of the house that need to be repaired, replaced, or more needs for the kids, this bedroom gets left behind. So yay for finally moving forward!
I'm not sharing all our before photos in this post, but above is a snippet of the ugliness that's ready to go bye-bye!
Since we have those triple windows in the center of the room, of course I took to Pinterest to find some design inspiration. I really needed to see some window treatment ideas, since we're currently still using the curtains that were already here when we moved in.
As you know, we try to do everything on a pretty tight budget here. The only reason I'm even pulling this off right now is because we just had Christmas, and then my birthday was in February. We're blessed to have some family members gift us with cash, and who doesn't love that?! Normally I would wait while we save for specific projects, but right after Christmas I came down with strep. And let me tell you, as I laid in bed for 3 days, I stared at our ugly bedroom and decided enough was enough and I was 100% willing to fork over my own gift money to finally get this bedroom DONE!
So to give you an overview, the walls will be BM Smoke. The trim and doors are already white.
I'll paint both nightstands and possibly Mark's dresser in BM Stonington Gray. My dresser will stay the current stained wood because it's a beautiful piece passed down from Mark's family.
Mark bought the upholstered headboard for my birthday. I found it for dirt cheap, brand new and unopened, on Facebook Marketplace, but you can get it from Target. It's actually on clearance right now!
I got a fantastic deal on an 8x10 area rug from Zulily during an after Christmas clearance sale. It's not there anymore, but you can find it at Rugs USA, where you can get it for 50% off if you wait for holiday deals. They just had a huge sale for President's Day.
I got two green bedside lamps from Walmart.
And the blue flower print curtains panels are from Ikea, which I picked up over the weekend.
I can't tell you how excited I am for this project AND to get some décor out of storage that's been packed away since we moved in. So which ceiling light fixture would you choose? Please help! In the meantime, I'll get painting this weekend!
If you want to save any of these ideas, don't forget to pin this for later!
