It's hard to believe we've been living here for over a year and this is already our second Christmas in our new-ish-to-us home! Last year I was so excited to have a porch that I went big with decor. Lots of plaids, lots of vintage pieces, and lots of fun. This year I wanted to simplify a bit, and I wanted the focus to be these natural white pine and cedar garlands leading right up to the front door. For everything else, I shopped the storage room!
I didn't use these rustic flocked trees inside this year, so I figured they'd be perfect on the porch. I added in my uncle's vintage sled that I painted years ago, and these galvanized Ikea lanterns.
The trees have been stocked at Walmart for the past two Christmases and are very affordable. I displayed them in various sizes of galvanized buckets.
I love seeing what I already have to dress up the swing a little bit! The pillows are from the Target dollar spot last year, and the throw is one from our stash that we keep hidden in our window bench in the dining room. The more plaid throws around here, the better!
here's always so many uses for these white crates, and the flocked stems are a fun and wintery addition.
The sparse green trees have been showing up in my photos for years, probably because they're one of my favorite things that I own...in my entire house. Crate & Barrel sold three different sizes years ago and my mom and I went a little crazy with them during the after Christmas clearance sale! They're one of the best Christmas investments I've ever made, and I usually end up using them in some way until the end of February.
Now we're just waiting for our first snow to come cover all the brown and make everything look magical!
Before I go, I have to show you a quick night time shot of the lights. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year!
