We've been attending our town's Labor Day Festival since before it was ever our town. 8 years ago my friend invited us to watch the parade with their family and we've been coming ever since.
It's 3 days of food trucks, rides, games, memorials, concerts, and people-watching. On Labor Day there's a big parade. For years we've done cookouts for all the big summer holidays with the same group of friends, just rotating houses for each holiday. Since we moved into this house, it was a given that from here on out, we'll be hosting Labor Day because we live one house away from the parade route! It was so great gathering friends and food, and then walking to the corner together for the parade.
The really fun thing this year is that after all these years of watching, Jake got to walk in the parade with the high school football team! My heart was full-to-bursting seeing him there with those guys.
And in a funny twist of events, our church decided to do a float this year, so Rory walked along with her friends too, passing out candy.
It was a wonderful weekend filled with Amish donuts, lemon shakeups, family time, and quality friend time, which we don't seem to get enough of these days. We had so much fun being part of our new community, and knowing we have years ahead of us to do it again and again! Here are some snippets of the festival...
